Program

This Education Conference focuses on responding to the challenge to be companions in a mission of Reconciliation and Justice as was asked of us in GC36 D1. To share in this renewed mission, Decree 2 of GC36 outlined a renewed governance by which this mission can be undertaken. Discernment, collaboration and networking offer three important perspectives on our contemporary way of proceeding. As the Society of Jesus is an “international and multicultural body” in a complex, “fragmented and divided world, attention to these perspectives helps to streamline governance and make it more flexible and apostolically effective.

GC 36, D.2#3

Objectives:

  1. Address the Province Bookend priorities: concerns for Australia’s First Nations peoples and for the country’s most recent arrivals, Asylum Seekers and Refugees.

  2. Find ways in which Ignatian Spirituality and the Spiritual Exercises can be actively adapted to the school setting so that students learn the habit of stillness and the practice of discernment.

  3. Nurture the established JACSA Professional Learning Communities.
